Construction of NPP "Hanhikivi-1" in Finland is postponed
Julkaistu 20 syyskuu 2017
The Finnish company Fennovoima decided to postpone obtaining a building permit to construct an NPP "Hanhikivi-1" in the Finnish municipality of Pyhäjoki. The company didn’t have time to prepare the technical documents on the station security. Earlier the company planned to obtain a license and begin construction in the beginning of 2018. Now Fennovoima hopes that the State Council of Finland will issue a license in early 2019.

They started digging a ditch for the nuclear plant construction in January 2016, but in Finland it takes more than one year to obtain a license for construction of nuclear facilities. Security issues are a priority for the Finnish government.

"Hanhikivi-1" is a collaboration project of Fennovoima and the Russian company "Rosatom". It is also co-financed by the National Wealth Fund of Russia. The Fennovoima company will report the final date of the construction postponement after consultations with the Russian partner, Rosatom Corporation.
